About the Compensation Team
The Victims Compensation Committee was established by a Presidential Proclamation on 6th August 2025. It is an independent Panel of Experts tasked with designing and implementing a framework for the fair, transparent, and timely compensation of victims of demonstrations and public protests in Kenya.
Our Mission
To restore dignity, justice, and healing for victims and families affected by demonstrations and public protests, ensuring their rights are recognized and their recovery is supported.
Our Vision
A just, peaceful, and united Kenya where civic freedoms are respected, and those harmed in the exercise of these rights receive full and fair redress.
Mandate of the Committee
Verify & Categorize
Establish a fair system to verify victims and categorize claims for compensation.
Engage Stakeholders
Work with families, civil society, religious groups, and state institutions to ensure inclusivity.
Ensure Justice
Recommend reparations, accountability measures, and reforms where necessary.

The Panel is made up of experts from diverse backgrounds β law, human rights, governance, academia, and civil society β appointed to ensure fairness and impartiality in the compensation process.
